‘Dressed Up As Love’ A Clarion Call to Broken Women Everywhere.
Lolo Stubbs is a best-selling Author, Editor-in-Chief of BROOD Magazine, Motivational Speaker, Women’s Aid Ambassador and a proud Mum of 4 children. Lolo has been recognised for her inspiring journey by being named as a finalist for The Woman of the Year Award at the This is Manchester Awards 2024.
After facing the prospect of never walking again in her early twenties, and the health battles that followed, including being told there was only an 8% chance that Lolo and her husband Rob would ever have any children. Despite repeatedly being told that Lolo was too poorly to work and around 3-4 hospital admissions a year, Lolo’s positive mindset made her determined not to give up.
Lolo used her time in the hospital to start writing her first book Dressed Up As Love, in which she drew on her own experience of domestic abuse to create a novel that would touch the hearts of many women. Following rave reviews of Dressed Up As Love, Lolo began working with Women’s Aid UK and she re-released her novel, along with the sequel Dressed Up In Armour in support of Women’s Aid, donating 20% of the proceeds to the charity. That same year Lolo was made the Expect Respect Ambassador for Women’s Aid.
Lolo began speaking at high schools, colleges, female entrepreneur panels and at conferences; sharing her motivational story. After carving out a career through founding her own business, Lolo has continued to navigate her career roles and being a mum alongside her chronic health conditions including Endometriosis and Fibromyalgia.
Knowing how much having a source of community, advice and relatable content has continually helped to keep Lolo motivated, she decided that she wanted to curate a magazine specifically for Entrepreneurial and Working Parents, and after partnering with her husband Digital Expert, Rob Stubbs and their friend and professional photographer, Tom Pitfield, BROOD Magazine was born.
